Americas Cup Yacht Sculpture at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston
1992 Americas Cup defender America3 and challenger Il Moro
In the fall of 2004, Rodger Martin Yacht Designs began working on a project involving the public display of two Americas Cup Yachts. America3, the 1992 America’s Cup winner, and Il Moro di Venezia, her challenger, are now on display in front of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA now until November 13 2005 as part of the exhibit “Things I Love: The Many Collections of William I. Koch.”
RMP was contracted to provide the Americas Cup models to be used in Rodger Martin Yacht Design’s larger study model of the AC yachts display. We were able to deliver several Americas Cup models quickly. The models were exact scaled replica’s built directly from a 3D CAD model.

Rodger Martin Yacht Designs used the models to conceptualize and explore possible arrangements as well as identify the engineering challenges of what has turned out to be a remarkable exhibit.
Rodger Martin Yacht Designs have designed a support system that suspends the boats with a network of rod rigging secured to the ground in a way so the yachts appear to be sailing on land.
